Infant sleeping system

A crib sheet with attachment points used to attach to the crib rails or bed frame. The crib sheet is used in combination with an infant sleep garment that attaches to the crib sheet by hook and loop mechanism. Attachment to the crib frame or bed frame, rather than the mattress, eliminates the risk that the infant's movements can cause the crib sheet to move or shift. Two points of attachment lie on either side of the shoulders or upper torso of the infant. The sleep garment has a arm restraint mechanism that acts to prevent movement of the infant's arms so that the infant cannot use its arms to escape the garment or to move itself about the crib or bed.

U shaped spring for strengthening the pubococeygeus muscle

InactiveUS20020147082A1Long resistance pathMaximize muscle strengtheningResilient force resistorsSheet steelRange of movement
A U shaped spring designed to accommodate a long resistance path, designed to provide for a large leg squeezing area so that large squeezing resistance may be applied without excessive inner leg pressure, designed to facilitate incremental and great increases of resistance and, designed to employ an arm restraint so that initial movement through the first half of the range of movement will be against substantial and beneficial resistance. The U shaped spring for strengthening the pubococeygeus muscle when squeezed between the upper legs comprises: a resilient strip bent into and held in a U shape, said U shape having spaced opposite arms extending in a same direction, and a central portion connecting the opposite arms; and, an arm restraint extending between the spaced opposite arms holding and preventing the arms from resiliently springing apart beyond their spaced configuration. The arm restraint is generally under a substantial tension load, and is unloaded only when the arms of the U shaped spring are squeezed together between the upper legs thereby strengthening the pubococeygeus muscle. In a preferred aspect of this invention the strip comprises sheet steel and the arm restraint comprises a wire rope extending between and through holes in the opposite arms.

An arm holding device. The device includes a waist band, a groin strap fitted with an attachment / release buckle, and arms bands which are slidably attached to the waist band. The attachment / release buckle on the groin strap makes placing and removing the device on the patient a simple process. The slidably attached arm bands give the patient limited movement of their arms, while effectively holding the arms of the patient to prevent the patient from aggravating an injury. The device is made of flexible materials to provide as much comfort as possible for the patient, while still being effective.

Pediatric arm restraint

An arm restraint is adapted for limiting arm movement of a patient. The arm restraint includes a fabric arm wrap designed for receiving and folding around an arm of the patient in a generally extended condition. The arm wrap has a first end adapted for residing adjacent an upper arm of the patient and a second end residing adjacent a wrist of the patient. A plurality of spaced-apart elongated stays are incorporated within the arm wrap, and extend longitudinally from its first end to its second end. The stays cooperate to restrict bending of the arm at the elbow. A fabric shoulder fold is formed with the first end of the arm wrap, and is designed for extending over and covering a shoulder of the patient adjacent the upper arm. A torso strap is secured to the shoulder fold at a first attachment point. The torso strap has a free end designed for extending across and around an upper torso of the patient. The free end attaches to the shoulder fold at a second attachment point. The torso strap operates to secure and maintain the arm restraint in position on the arm of the patient.

Shoulder and arm restraint

A therapeutic orthopedic device is described. The orthopedic device serves to restrain and limit movement of a human arm and shoulder. The device comprises a torso pillow, a padded forearm support attached to the pillow and a shoulder strap that traverses the clavicle region of the opposite shoulder. The pillow is positioned to rest against the torso of a user and the strap is positioned over the opposite shoulder. The forearm support acts as a shelf upon which the user's forearm may rest in a natural position. Flexible straps extend from the forearm support, over the user's forearm, and engage with the pillow to secure the forearm.

Straps for restraining a patient's arms

InactiveUS20080000486A1Inexpensive and simple to operateQuick installationDiagnosticsStretcherPhysical therapyElbow joints
An arm restraint device and method for use by EMS workers to restrain the arms of a patient lying on a backboard, gurney, or similar immobilizing transport device. A strap having two outer loops for encircling each arm is joined by centrally located buckles. Each loop is placed over a patient's arms and positioned slightly above the elbow. A single pull of the strap between the buckles defining the two outer loops adjusts the outer loops to secure the patient's arms. The patient's arms are held parallel to the patient's sides but remain accessible to EMS workers even while restrained. The restraint device functions independently of the other straps on the immobilizing transport device to allow repositioning of the restraint without loosening the other straps and risking unexpected movement of the patient.
