Therefore, after the carpet area is determined and the cleaning robot reaches the area determined by the expansion preset distance of the outer contour of the carpet area, the cleaning robot is controlled to clean in the concentric-square-shaped path advancing close to the center of the carpet area, so that the cleaning assembly of the cleaning robot can be closer to the edge of the carpet; therefore, the carpet edge cleaning effect of the cleaning robot is improved.
