Embodiment Construction

[0023] FIG. 1 shows an electronic system which has a processing unit 1 in a control system R for an externally arranged sensor unit 2 and a control unit 3 . The processing unit 1 detects measured values and supplies them as control values on an output line 4 to the control unit 3 , so that the control unit 3 of the regulating system can control, for example, other electronic devices as a function of the control values.

[0024] The processing unit 1 is used to establish a connection via a connection line 5 to a sensor unit 2 arranged outside the electronic system. Such a separate arrangement of the control system and the sensor unit 2 is expedient in particular under rough ambient conditions in which measured values have to be detected. In order to protect the electronics of the control system, this is therefore arranged separately from the sensor unit 2 .

[0025] The power supply of the sensor unit 2 is ensured by the power supply 6 in the processing unit 1 . To this...

Abstract

The invention relates to a sensor system comprising a sensor unit for detecting a measured variable and an evaluation unit. The sensor unit and the evaluation unit are interconnected at least via one or several links. The sensor unit is provided with a sensor which is connected to a supply voltage and encompasses a signal output for a test signal that depends on the measured variable. The evaluation unit is equipped with a voltmeter to detect the state of the measured variable in accordance with a potential. The sensor unit is provided with a first resistive circuit that is connected to the sensor while the evaluation unit is fitted with a second resistive circuit which is connected to the voltmeter. The first and the second resistive circuit are coupled to each other via at least the sensor link while forming a resistive network. The first and the second resistive circuit are designed such that the voltmeter detects one or several measured potentials in one or several defined measured potential ranges in accordance with the measured variable in a faultless state of the one or several links while detecting a measured potential lying within a faulty potential range in case of a fault. The first and the second resistive circuit are dimensioned in such a way that the faulty potential range lies outside the one or several defined measured potential ranges.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a sensor system having a sensor unit and a processing unit arranged partially separate therefrom, the sensor unit and processing unit being connected to one another at least via a sensor line. Background technique [0002] Electronic systems usually have a processing unit for providing measurement signals which are to be processed in the system. The processing unit is usually part of the control or regulation system and is connected via one or more connection lines to a sensor unit which is arranged remotely from the system. The connecting line between the processing unit and the sensor unit can be interrupted or short-circuited to other connecting lines under rough operating conditions, which occur, for example, in a motor vehicle. This can lead to functional failures of the system which are not detected when the measured variables provided by the sensor units are plausible. [0003] The reliability in the operation of a sys...
