The invention provides a combined type touch panel and an operation method thereof; the combined type touch panel comprises a first insulating layer, a first conducting layer, a plurality of separation blocks, a second conducting layer and a second insulating layer which are arranged in a staggered manner in sequence; after a first working voltage is added to the second conducting layer, the voltage values at four corners of the first conducting layer are detected; if any one of the measuring voltage value is greater than a first critical voltage, then the combined touch panel operates in the resistance mode is judged, and the press position is judged in a resistance mode; if the measured voltage values are less than the first critical voltage, whether touch and contact position exist is judged in a capacitance mode.
