Embodiment approach 1

[0144] figure 1 It is a schematic diagram showing a home theater system using the recording medium according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention. This home theater system adopts a reproduction method of 3D video (stereoscopic video) using parallax video, and in particular adopts a sequence separation method as a display method (see for details). refer to figure 1 , the home theater system regards the recording medium 101 as a reproduction object, and includes a reproduction device 102 , a display device 103 , shutter glasses 104 and a remote controller 105 .

[0145] The recording medium 101 is a read-only Blu-ray Disc (registered trademark) (BD: Blu-ray Disc), that is, a BD-ROM disc. The recording medium 101 may also be other removable recording media, for example, an optical disk based on other formats such as DVD, a removable hard disk drive (HDD), or a semiconductor memory device such as an SD memory card. The BD-ROM disc 101 which is the recording medium stores...

Embodiment approach 2

[0562] According to the BD-ROM disc and playback device according to Embodiment 2 of the present invention, it is possible to avoid the risk of discomfort to the viewer due to 'misalignment' between the left view and the right view. Except for this point, the configurations and functions of the BD-ROM disc and playback device according to the second embodiment are the same as those according to the first embodiment. Therefore, changes and extensions of the BD-ROM disc and playback device according to Embodiment 2 from the BD-ROM disc and playback device according to Embodiment 1 will be described below. For the same parts as the BD-ROM disc and playback device according to Embodiment 1, the description of Embodiment 1 above is referred to.

Embodiment approach 3

[0587]The BD-ROM disc according to Embodiment 3 of the present invention also includes pairs of a base view and a dependent view for a PG stream and an IG stream. On the other hand, the playback device according to Embodiment 3 of the present invention includes a 2-plane mode. The '2 plane mode' is one of the display modes of the graphics plane. When the sub-TS includes both base-view and dependent-view graphics streams, the playback device in 2D plane mode decodes left-view and right-view graphics plane data from each graphics stream and outputs them alternately. Thus, 3D graphics images can be reproduced from these graphics streams. Except for these points, the configurations and functions of the BD-ROM disc and playback device according to the third embodiment are the same as those according to the first embodiment. Therefore, changes and extensions of the BD-ROM disc and playback device according to Embodiment 3 from the BD-ROM disc and playback device according to Embod...

Abstract

The invention provides a reording medium, a recording device, an encoding device, an integrated circuit and a reproduction output device. A pair of main view and sub-view video streams, a graphics stream, and playlist information are recorded on a BD-ROM disk. The sub-view video stream includes meta data arranged in each GOP. The meta data includes a corresponding table between offset identifiers and offset information contents. Each of the offset information contents specifies an offset control for each picture in the GOP. The offset control is processed such that respective offsets in the left and right directions on a horizontal coordinate are given to a graphics plane, which is synthesized to respective main view and sub-view video planes. The playlist information includes a stream selection table on a per reproduction section basis. In the stream selection table, when a stream number is made correspond to the packet identifier of the graphics stream, one offset identifier is additionally assigned to the stream number.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to reproduction technology of stereoscopic video images, that is, 3-dimensional (3D) video images, and particularly relates to the structure of stream data on a recording medium. Background technique [0002] The general interest in 3D imaging has grown in recent years. For example, attractions using 3D images are gaining popularity in amusement parks. In addition, movie theaters showing 3D video movies are also increasing all over the country. As interest in such 3D video images has increased, research and development of technologies capable of reproducing 3D video images in individual homes has also been advanced. In this technique, it is required to record 3D video content on a removable recording medium such as an optical disc while maintaining high image quality. In addition, such recording media are required to be compatible with 2D playback devices. That is, it is expected that a 2D playback device can play back...
