Abstract

The invention discloses a Chinese medicine composition for treating chronic ulcerative colitis. The Chinese medicine composition comprises the Chinese medicinal herbs: flabelate maiden-hair herb, root of smalleaf desmodium, silverweed cinquefoil root, emperor woodbetony root, sword bean, syringa pinnatifolia, gorse, hairy waxmyrtle bark, tetracera scandens and chinese granesbill. Through clinical tests in our hospital, the traditional Chinese medicine considers that the chronic ulcerative colitis belongs to categories of 'lingering dysentery, diarrhoea, hematochezia and spouting bleeding from anus', and is caused by externally infection of dampness pathogen, improper diet, emotional disorder and insufficiency of natural endowment. Spleen and kidney deficiencies are symptoms, dampness, cold, fever, qi stagnation, blood stasis and the like are root causes. Through clinical tests in our hospital, the cure rate and the total effective rate of a treatment group are respectively 54.3 percent and 97.8 percent, and remarkably superior to the cure rate and the total effective rate of a control group,namely respectively 23.9 percent and 73.9 percent; the Chinese medicine composition is small in side effects, low in recurrence rate, and worthy of clinical popularization and application.
