Abstract

An embodiment of the invention discloses a data backup method which is used for improving flexibility and adaptability of NDMP (network data management protocol) backup service and meeting needs, on backup service diversification, of market. The data backup method includes acquiring extended attributes of NAS (network attached storage) correlation of file data to be backed up; packaging the file data to be a file packet with the extended attributes of NAS correlation and in a tar format; backing up the file packet on a magnetic tape. By the data backup method, the extended attributes of NAS correlation of the file data are packaged and backed up on the magnetic tape together, so that the NDMP backup service can provide more functions; the extended attributes can be set according to actual needs, on a backup service function, of the market. The embodiment of the invention further provides a related data backup system.
