Benefits of technology

This patented technology allows researchers to quickly determine if there're any plant species with smaller or larger radicles on their own leaves without having to scan them down through an optical microscope. By doing this, they can save considerable effort compared to analyzing individual samples from multiple sources. They found that both techniques showed significant differences between each other but no difference was statistically associated when comparing these measurements over several months.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed in this patents relates to measuring plant root systems quickly with high accuracy without taking too much effort on sample preparation compared to traditional methods like scans that require multiple steps.

Embodiment Construction

[0028] In order to make the object, technical solution and advantages of the present invention clearer, the following examples further describe the present invention in detail. It should be understood that the specific embodiments described here are only used to explain the present invention, not to limit the present invention.

[0029] The embodiments of the present invention take the paddy plant of soil potted rice sampling at the jointing stage as an example to illustrate the root system morphology determination method of the fibrous root plant of the present invention, comprising the following steps:

[0030] Step 1, preparation and preservation of fibrous root plant root system;

[0031] Rinse the soil in the plastic bucket repeatedly with tap water, wash the rice plant root system out of the soil, carefully clean up the debris on the root system, place the sample on a plastic screen to drain, and store the sample in a -4°C refrigerator. It can be soaked in absolute ethan...

Abstract

The invention provides a method for determining the physical form of a fibrous root plant. The method comprises the following steps: cleaning the root of a plant; sectioning the root of the plant after cleaning; separately sampling each section of the root and scanning the samples in a scanner to obtain root images; drying the samples and the rest of the root and separately weighing the samples and the rest of the root; and analyzing the root images by using a root image analysis software to obtain the root length, root volume and surface area of each sample of each section of the root. According to the invention, the method can reduce the time for scanning the root and provide complete data.
