The system comprises a multi-phase direct-drive permanent-magnet wind power generator and a modular multilevel inverter, wherein the quantity of three-phase windings of the multi-phase direct-drive permanent-magnet wind power generator is 6n (n is equal to 1, 2, 3 and so on), the modular multilevel inverter comprises six three-phase bridge arms, each bridge arm comprises n sub-modules and a filter inductor, each sub-module comprises a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) rectifier, two IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) and a capacitor, the two IGBTs are connected in series and then are connected in parallel with the capacitor and a DC side of the PWM rectifier, and an AC side of the PWM rectifier is connected with one of the three-phase windings of the multi-phase direct-drive permanent-magnet wind power generator. In the wind power generation system, modular series-parallel connection is performed on three-phase branches, each three-phase winding of the wind power generator is controlled, thus, maximum wind energy capturing and high-voltage direct grid connection of a multi-phase permanent-magnet synchronous motor can be achieved, and a grid-connection transformer is omitted.
