[0043] Generally, the present invention relates to one or more absorbing compounds, which can be combined with one or more polymer substrates to be disposed on or incorporated into electronic devices. The absorbing compound is ideally blue-based and provides protection for the individual from potentially harmful light emitted by the electronic device, and the polymer substrate is used for applications to or in electronic devices. The combination of absorbing compounds and polymer substrates described herein may include materials used to fabricate filters having defined transmittance and optical density characteristics for visible wavelength transmittance. In some embodiments, the material from which this filter is made may include an organic dye impregnated polycarbonate composition.
