The method comprises the steps of acquiring lightning location data and historical thunderstorm day records of a lightning observation area the radius, wherein the radius of the lightning observation area is R and an observation point is used as the center; selecting n observation ranges the radii of which is Rn from the lightning observation area, wherein Rn is less than or equal to R, and obtaining thunderstorm day records in each observation range from the lightning location data; matching thunder and lightning day records in each observation range with the thunderstorm day records during the historical thunderstorm day recording period, and using the observation range withthe smallest error between the thunder and lightning day records and the thunderstorm day records as a matched observation range; in the matched observation range, using the number of thunder and lightning days obtained from the thunder and lightning day records in the matched observation range as the number of the thunderstorm days.
