Abstract

The invention relates to a multiple user-oriented dynamic range scalable coding method for HDR videos. The method comprises the steps of: firstly, proposing a dynamic range scalable model in consideration with HDR video sensing characteristics, and decomposing HDR videos of different dynamic ranges into standard dynamic range videos and a multiple residual signal frame sequence; then, quantizing and filtering the multiple residual signal frame sequence in combination with the luminance masking effect and the human eye sensing characteristics to filter out scattered data points in the residualand retain overall difference information between adjacent dynamic ranges of the residual signal frame sequence, thus improving the coding efficiency of the residual signal frame sequence; and finally, reconstructing the standard dynamic range videos and the HDR videos of all the dynamic ranges at a decoding end to adapt to a multi-user display device. The method also suppresses noise by using thevisual masking characteristic and improves the efficiency of dynamic range scalable coding.
