Abstract
The invention discloses a method for detecting the 5-bp repeat deletion polymorphism of the boar StAR gene and its application. This method uses the whole genome DNA of the boar to be tested as a template, amplifies the StAR gene fragment by PCR technology, and then performs agarose gel electrophoresis. According to the electrophoresis results, it is identified that the StAR gene exists at the NC_010457.5:g.5524‑5528 site5 ‑bp repeat deletion polymorphism. The different genotypes of StAR gene 5-bp repeat deletion polymorphism were significantly correlated with reproductive traits such as testicular long axis length, testicular short axis length and testicular weight in 15-day-old and 40-day-old Large White boars. The method for detecting the insertion / deletion of the boar StAR gene provided by the invention can be applied in the marker-assisted selection breeding of the reproductive traits of the boar, and is beneficial to quickly establish a boar genetic resource population with excellent reproductive performance.
