Problems solved by technology

[0004] Because conventional "time-of-flight" laser rangefinders measure distance based on first detection of backscatter, such laser rangefinders are limited to detecting only one object and only measuring the distance to the leading edge of the target object
Limits the utilization of traditional laser range finders

Embodiment Construction

[0021] The new application laser measuring distance meter includes the following steps:

[0022] Step 1, projecting a continuous laser beam onto the target object, thereby causing the target beam to reflect from the target object, wherein the laser beam has a frequency;

[0023] Step 2, modulating the frequency at a known modulation speed;

[0024] Step 3, splitting a reference beam from the laser beam;

[0025] Step 4, coherently combining the target beam and the reference beam, wherein the coherently combined beam establishes a difference frequency; measuring the difference frequency; and based on the measured difference frequency and the known modulation speed; calculating the said distance;

[0026] Step 5, determining the azimuth and elevation angle of the target object; and calculating the spatial coordinates of the target object based on the calculated distance; and the azimuth and elevation angle.

[0027] The modulation speed is linear.

Abstract

Provided is a novel application laser range finder. The invention relates to measurement of a distance to a target object, and specifically relates to a novel application laser range finder. Accordingto the novel application laser range finder, laser is emitted simultaneously through a plurality of laser sources, a plurality of beams of laser are synthesized through a beam combiner to form a coaxial laser emitted to the target object, the laser is reflected through the target object, laser beams emitted by the corresponding laser sources are received through a plurality of laser receivers, and then laser signals are transmitted to a signal processor for processing in order to form a laser range-finding system with synthesis emission and multichannel reception. The interference in a flightprocess of the laser can be reduced, the recognition degree and the signal-to-noise ratio of the received signals are increased, and the precision of range finding is further improved.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the measurement of the distance of a target object, and more particularly relates to a novel laser measuring distance meter. Background technique [0002] Laser range finders project a laser beam to measure the distance to a target object. Conventional laser rangefinders are relatively compact while still providing relatively accurate distance measurements. Accordingly, conventional laser range finders are used in a variety of applications, such as sports applications (eg, golf and hunting), construction applications (eg, surveying), and military applications (eg, target acquisition). [0003] Traditional laser rangefinders typically use a "time-of-flight" method to measure distance. A time-of-flight laser rangefinder generally includes a laser and a detector. The laser projects a laser pulse towards the target object and starts a clock. The detector detects the backscatter due to the laser pulse hitting the target ...
