Abstract

The ladle covering agent is made from the following raw materials including, by mass, 50-70 parts of aluminum electrolysis cellspent cathode carbon blocks, 0-20 parts of limestone and 10-30 parts of vermiculite. According to the ladle covering agent provided by the invention, the adopted raw materials are low in cost, low insulphur content and small in secondary pollution; the ladle covering agent is appropriate in melting point, short in melting time and good in spreadability; and since the aluminum electrolysis cell spent cathode carbon blocks contain the carbon element and the fluorine element, the heat retaining property and fluidity of a ladle can be improved easily, and therefore, the purpose that secondary oxidation and an excessively large temperature drop of molten iron can be prevented is achieved.
