The new cotton variety, Xiang X9628, is bred through the processes of artificial hybridization between Xiangmian NO.10 and Zhong 5655; triple continuous backcrosses with Xiangmian No.10 as female parent and hybridized or backcrossed progeny as male parent; four times of selfings to select individual plant; and final selfing to purify. The new cotton variety has three features of early maturation,disease resistance and high yield. In addition, it has low gossypol content in cotton seed and this makes it possible for people to utilize protein in cotton seed effectively.
