Problems solved by technology

Therefore, the device can only be applied to generally defined set doses without taking specific patient into account
Additionally, the LaserWRAP device does not include remote communication capabilities, nor does it have any sensor means to collect data for monitoring of treatment adherence, progress, or dose effectiveness
As a result, providers are unable to monitor patient use and treatment after initiation of LLLT therapy, let alone manage it, for example by modifying dose during longitudinal treatment that occurs outside of the healthcare facility
Also unable to collect data related to treatment progression during the treatment regimen

Embodiment 1

[0374] Example 1: Dental Surgery – Third Molar Extraction

[0375] Eight patients with third molars were treated with LLLT treatment delivered proximal to the extraction point using the mouth region treatment device of the present invention as further described herein. The LLLT treatment protocol was to irradiate 650 nm and 880 nm light at 160 mW over a 120 cm2 area adjacent to each patient's affected area. Each patient received 3 LLLT sessions per day, and each session received 28 minutes of light therapy.

[0376] Results: Treated patients had no observable swelling at 72 hours postoperatively. Patient-reported pain was considered by the attending clinician to be lower than the average patient not treated with LLLT.

Embodiment 2

[0377] Example 2: Abdominoplasty

[0378] As further described herein, LLLT was performed on two abdominoplasty patients at 160 mW power at a wavelength of 650 nm over an area of 300 cm2 using the abdominal region treatment device of the present invention. Patients were exposed to these wavelengths three times per day for 32 minutes each.

[0379] Results: Treated patients had minimal bruising 96 hours post-surgery. In the opinion of the attending clinician, patients reported less pain than the average patient who did not undergo LLLT.

Embodiment 3

[0380] Embodiment 3: caesarean section

[0381] Two post-cesarean patients were treated with LLLT light at a wavelength of 650 nm delivered at a power of 160 mW in the vicinity of the c-section incision using the pelvic region treatment device of the present invention as further described herein. Patients were exposed to LLT three times a day for 36 minutes per session.

[0382] Results: Treated patients had minimal bruising on postoperative day 7. Significantly less pain was reported in the attending clinician's opinion than in the average patient without LLLT.
