The energy storage system comprises a carbon dioxide energy storage cycle subsystem, a first energy storage subsystem and a second energy storage subsystem, wherein the carbon dioxide energy storage cycle subsystem is used for achieving the energy storage thermodynamic cycle of the carbon dioxide, the first energy storage subsystem is used for achieving basic energy storage of cold and heat, the second energy storage subsystem is used for achieving multistage storage of energy, and the energy release system comprises a carbon dioxide energy release cycle subsystem, a first energy release subsystem and a second energy release subsystem. The carbon dioxide energy release cycle subsystem is used for achieving the energy release thermodynamic cycle of the carbon dioxide, the first energy release subsystem is used for achieving basic energy release of cold and heat, and the second energy release subsystem is used for achieving multistage release of energy.
