Abstract

The invention relates to the application of EWS or its upregulator in the preparation of medicines for treating diabetes and preventing and treating tumors in diabetic individuals. The present invention finds that EWS significantly reduces the high ROS level and excessive activation of PARP in diabetic macrovascular, microvascular endothelial and retinal tissues; Repairing damaged DNA not only alleviated the high glucose toxicity of vascular endothelium, but also showed retinal protection; EWS could significantly enhance the catabolism and AMPK activity of large vessel endothelial cells, and reduce the JNK activity. It is suggested that EWS or its up-regulator can be used to prepare drugs for alleviating the dysfunction of diabetic vascular endothelium, or strengthening DNA damage repair, or treating diabetes, or preventing diabetic complications, or preventing tumor occurrence in diabetic individuals.
