This is a closed microfocus X-ray tube with a focal spot diameter in the range of 0.4 mm. In the housing 2 there is a target 3 which is bombarded by an electron beam 15 (seeFigure 3a ), and at the position where the electron beam hits the target 3, at the focal point 7, X-ray radiation 5 is emitted. The X-ray radiation exits from the housing 2 through an exit window 4 made of beryllium. The exit window is installed in the opening 14 of the housing so as to be as close to the focal spot 7 as possible. It is air-tightly connected to the housing 2 via the window carrier 13 and the pipe flange 9 connected thereto. The radiographic image of the article 8 is recorded by means of S-ray radiation 5 by means of a detector 6 arranged at a predetermined distance from the light spot 7.
