The system comprises a plurality of subsurface flow wetland units, and each subsurface flow wetland unit is provided with an independent water inlet system and an independent water outlet system; a controllable water inlet valve and a controllable water outlet valve are respectively arranged on the water inlet system and the water outlet system; connecting pipes are arranged between the subsurface flow wetland units with the upstream and downstream relationship as well as between the water outlet system of the upper-stage subsurface flow wetland unit and the water inlet system of the lower-stage subsurface flow wetland unit, and controllable communicating valves are arranged on the connecting pipes; and the water heads of the water inlet systems are higher than that of the connecting pipe, and the water head of the connecting pipe is higher than those of the water outlet systems. Through adjustment of the control valves, mutual conversion of series connection and parallel connection of the wetland purification units is carried out, the defect that the purification function of the wetland purification units cannot be fully played is overcome, and the operation mode of the wetland treatment units is flexibly selected according to the wetland inflow water quantity.
