Abstract

A method for realizing real-time performance and QoS of a wireless local area network is characterized by adding a QoS intermediate layer on top of the MAC layer of IEEE802.11, which layer is implemented by software; the QoS intermediate layer provides real-time performance and QoS for services. The QoS middle layer is a software implementation on top of the MAC layer of IEEE802.11. It does not change the IEEE802.11 protocol and is suitable for the existing IEEE802.11 protocol and for future improvements of IEEE802.11. Applicable to existing IEEE802.11 products, showing good compatibility and adaptability. The original IEEE802.11 protocol system has a very weak priority differentiation function. It only defines two types of services: real-time (non-competitive) and competitive services, and does not further prioritize real-time services. As more and more applications require further priority identification of services, the present invention provides priority differentiation services for real-time services to provide better differentiation services.
