Apparatuses and methods for delivering sound to ear canal are provided. The apparatus generally includes a compressible and resilient toroidal section having an inner side and an outer side. An aperture extends from the outer side to the inner side and the outer side has a well disposed within an inner side surface about the aperture. The apparatus further includes a compressible and resilient spout integrated with the toroidal section and extending away from the inner side. The spout includes a channel disposed within an inner spout surface and the channel is coupled to the well.

The sidewalls are preferably attached to a portion of the periphery of the base, which is preferably an elongated, flat platform. Systems, apparatus and methods are discussed for controlling resonance in in-the-ear headphones. Resonance effects resulting from wave reflection and superposition can occur in the cavity formed by the port tube of an earbud and the wearer's ear canal. In this invention, acoustically resistive structures are provided to create sound diffusion in the cavity. In one embodiment, a spring coil with several adjustable parameters is inserted into the port tube. In another embodiment, a pattern of grooves is carved into the inner surface of the port tube. Porous filters can also be used in conjunction with both of the embodiments described above. The result of providing the resistive structures in an earbud is a flattened cavity frequency response and improved sound quality.

The shell may be part of a hearing aid (17) that is connected with a tube (9) in a first end and an earplug (20) in a second end. In a third aspect of the invention a method of preparing the shell is disclosed and in a fourth aspect a method of manufacturing a hearing aid is also disclosed.

A retractable ear bud module has a housing with an ear bud cable retractable mounted in the housing. The ear bud cable has at least one ear bud and a microphone, and a fixed end attached to a circuit board including a wireless receiver mounted. The wireless receiver electronically connects with the ear bud cable to transfer audio signals from the electronic device to the ear bud and from the microphone to the wireless receiver. A spool, mounts in the housing to retract and dispense the ear bud cable. In order to avoid entanglement of the microphone in the spool and housing, the microphone is integrated with the ear bud in one embodiment, is collocated with the ear bud in an alternate embodiment, and is distanced by no more than two inches from the ear bud in another embodiment.

The present invention relates generally to a Y-shaped cord sleeve. More particularly, the invention encompasses a Y-shaped headphone/earbud cord sleeve. The present invention is also directed to a novel placement of at least one opening at or near a Y-junction of the Y-shaped cord sleeve. The present invention is also directed to a novel Y-shaped cord sleeve that has at least one accommodation or opening for a microphone and/or volume control or similar electronic input/output type device. The Y-shaped cord sleeve could also have at least one tab, medallion, or tongue to cover at least a portion of the opening for the headphone/earbud cord. The user could also personalize or individualize, or create an expression using any of the features of this invention.

A headphone cord sleeve includes: a flexible tubular sleeve including an opening at each of a first end and a second end; a reinforced section of the tubular sleeve adjacent the first end reducing the flexibility of the tubular sleeve over the length of the reinforced section; and a loop extending from the side wall of the flexible tube, adjacent to the reinforced section. A method of managing a headphone cord comprising the steps of: providing a tubular sleeve including a first opening and a second opening; positioning the tubular sleeve onto a headphone cord, wherein the headphone cord includes a jack plug, a jack cord, a cord split, a pair of earbud cords and a pair of earbud housings; and selectively positioning the tubular sleeve between a use position and a storage position.

An ear bud stabilizer (1) that is worn on an individual's head over a pair of ear buds (18) to prevent the ear buds from falling out of the wearer's ears and to provide better sound quality from the ear buds. The ear bud stabilizer has a substantially C-shaped band (2) with ear covers (7A, 7B) each having a mesh covering (8) located thereon. The C-shaped band is preferably constructed from a resilient material that pushes the ear covers toward each other, thereby providing an inward pressure on the user's ears. The mesh coverings allow air circulation within the user's ears while performing activities, thereby preventing sweat from collecting in the user's ears.
