An embolic coil deployment system for placing a coil at a preselected site within a vessel of the human body. The deployment system includes a heating element at the distal end of a delivery member and a heat responsive coupling for holding the coil during positioning of the coil and activation means for releasing the coil at a desired position within the vessel.

A vascular remodeling device is provided that can comprise a proximal section, an intermediate section, and a distal section. During deployment, the proximal section can expand from a compressed delivery state to an expanded state and anchor the device in the afferent vessel of a bifurcation. A method as provided for occluding the vasculature of a patient. The method comprises the steps of providing a plurality of embolic coils having a textured surface. The embolic coils are introduced into the patient's vasculature. In this manner, the textured surface provides improved platelet adhesion compared to a non-textured surface, to promote clotting. An occluding device for occlusion of fluid flow through a body cavity is disclosed. The device comprises an embolization coil formed from at least one wire strand and having an initial tension. The embolization coil is defined by a primary coil formed into a secondary coil. In at least one embodiment of the present invention, a method for making an occluding device for occlusion of fluid flow through a lumen of a body vessel is provided. The method comprises attaching a coating to an embolization coil that is substantially straight. The coating is nominally strained on the substantially straight embolization coil. A device and method of treating an aneurysm in a cranial artery of a patient includes providing a coil delivery system having a bypass catheter with a proximal end portion, a distal end portion, and an intermediate portion. The bypass catheter also includes a bypass lumen extending from the proximal end portion to the distal end portion and a coil delivery lumen that extends from the proximal end portion to a coil delivery opening in a side wall of the bypass catheter. The coil delivery system also includes an embolic coil or multiple coils capable of being deployed separately through the coil delivery opening and electrolytically detached, and at least one balloon disposed about an outer surface of the bypass catheter and capable of substantially preventing blood flow around the outer surface of the bypass catheter when inflated. The system may be used without coil embolization to provide endovascular bypass with segmental vessel occlusion during brain surgery such as craniotomy with clipping of a cerebral aneurysm.

The invention provides a releasable embolic spring coil system. The releasable embolism spring ring system comprises a conveying device, a release device and an embolism spring ring, wherein the conveying device comprises a push rod which is of a hollow pipe shape; limiting parts are arranged on the inner wall of the far end of the push rod; the release device comprises a release wire and a release ball; the release wire is arranged in the push rod; the far end of the release ball is connected with the embolism spring ring; in a limiting state, the release ball is limited in the push rod by the release wire and the limiting parts; and in a release state, the release ball is separated from limiting and is separated from the push rod from a far end position; thus, the embolism spring ring isreleased. The releasable embolism spring ring system provided by the invention can stably convey a spring ring into a position needing thrombus occlusion in a human body; the spring ring is easily and mechanically released; thus, the releasable embolism spring ring system is simple in operation and sensitive in response, and does not damage blood vessels.
