[0637] Test description / example:

[0638] Two components denoted below as matrix component and catalyst component (B or C) were prepared according to a common preparation method. To do this, the monomers are first mixed in to form a homogeneous mixture. The initiator ingredients are then added and dissolved by stirring vigorously using a magnetic stirrer.

[0639] The specific properties of the 2-component initiator system of the present invention were tested in more detail in the compositions below. The reference system is the combination of component B1 with C1 and C2.

Abstract

A two-component initiator system having accelerators for curing polymerizable materials comprising the following components: (a) a hydroperoxide compound containing one or more hydroperoxide groups that are bound to a tertiary carbon; (b) a thiourea derivative; and (c) as accelerator, a copper compound which is soluble in the preparation is preferably free of amine and is particularly suited for polymerizable dental compositions.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a novel two-component initiator system containing accelerators for curing polymerizable materials. Background technique [0002] Two-component initiator systems for curing polymerizable materials are known: [0003] 1. Benzoyl peroxide / tertiary aryl amine: Dibenzoyl peroxide has the highest thermal stability among amine-initiated peroxides. However, continued heating of the formulation results in rapid spontaneous curing. The disadvantage of their use in dentistry is the slow oxidation of the amines, which can lead to a yellow-brown discoloration that is aesthetically pleasing. In an acidic environment, such as is required for bonding, the amines are immediately protonated and thus deactivated in an acid-base reaction. Under these conditions the use of 2 component systems may not be used. [0004] 2. Barbituric acid derivatives: In dental applications, it is desirable to use barbituric acid initiator systems, since ...
