[0054] Compounds were prepared by melt mixing from polycarbonate and 0.4% by weight processing aid. Next, the compound was processed into a sheet (40 mm x 20 mm x 3.5 mm) by injection molding. Clarity was evaluated on these sheets and the coefficient of sliding friction was determined to be able to judge the release effect. The results are listed in Table 1. Here, transparency is evaluated according to:
[0055] + clear, no cloudiness
[0056] 0 Slightly lubricated, less cloudy
[0057] 0 / strongly turbid
[0058] - very strong cloudiness

Abstract
Use of a synthetic wax oxidate (I) having a number-average molecular weight of 300-1000 g / mol measured via high-temperature GPC according to ASTM D 6474-99 and an acid number of 15-60 mg potassium hydroxide (KOH) / g as determined according to DIN 53 402, as a processing aid for molding mass comprising a polar polymer having repeating units, is claimed, where at least 60% of the repeating units contain at least one of ester-, amide-, sulfone- and imide groups. Independent claims are included for: (1) the molding mass comprising the polar polymer and (I) (0.05-1.5 wt.%); and (2) a molding part for optical applications, produced from the molding mass.
Description
technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the use of synthetic oxidized waxes as processing aids for transparent polar polymers. Background technique [0002] Transparent polar polymers such as polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate or transparent polyamide, characterized by mechanical resistance, good resistance to thermal deformation and very good optical properties, i.e. especially high transparency . Therefore, they are often used in those applications where these special properties have a special purpose, for example for the production of CD discs or DVDs, spectacle lenses, lenses and other optical components or automotive headlights. [0003] To simplify processing, especially by injection molding or extrusion, it is necessary to use lubricants and release agents as additives which do not adversely affect transparency. Typically, for example for polycarbonates, higher molecular weight fatty acid esters are used, such as pentaerythritol tetrastearate. A...
