Abstract

The invention discloses a dynamic recovery system for a waste space of a virtual machine image file. The system is in a structure the front and rear ends of which are interacted, wherein a front end monitoring part acquires delete information in a client virtual machine, which is realized by a delete operation monitoring module and a delete information detection module; and a rear end processing part recovers the waste space in the virtual machine image file according to the delete information and the current physical memory condition, which is realized by an information decision module and a waste space recovery module. The system dynamically recovers the waste space in the virtual machine image file, thereby improving the utilization rate of a disk space, and ensuring sufficient physical memory and user benefits under a virtualization environment. Compared with the prior art, the dynamic recovery system of the invention has the advantages that the services of the client virtual machine can be ensured, the virtual machine image file is not required to be scanned again, the recovery strategy can be regulated in real time according to the physical memory condition, the high efficiency and flexibility of the system are improved, and the dynamism and low consumption of the system as well as the transparency of resource utilization are ensured.
