The method comprises the steps of: first preparing a tea polyphenol aqueous solution and a collagen aqueous solution respectively, then adding the tea polyphenol aqueous solution into the collagen aqueous solution slowly under stirring till the dry weight ratio of tea polyphenol to collagen ranges from 0.5:100-8:100, and stirring the mixed solution fully so as to form a uniform complex liquid, and conducting film casting to the complex liquid or pouring the complex liquid into a die for drying at a temperature of 20-35DEG C for 24-48h, thus obtaining the edible collagen-based food packaging film. Characterized by good antibiotic property, corrosion resistance and good mechanical property and barrier property, the edible collagen-based food packaging film prepared by the method of the invention is safe and free of toxic and side effects, degradable in the environment and renewable.
