The invention discloses an advanced telecommunications computing architecture (ATCA) machine frame and an intelligent platform management bus (IPMB) connection method thereof; the ATCA machine frame comprises an ATCA framework with a plurality of trenches and ATCA veneers which are inserted into the trenches; each ATCA veneer comprises two switch boards and at least one gusset plate; the ATCA veneers are provided with intelligent platform management controllers (IPMCs); shelf management controllers (ShMCs) are respectively integrated on the two switch boards; for each switch board, the ShMC on the switch board is in point-to-point star-shaped connection with the IPMCs of all the gusset plates and the IPMC of the other switch board, and the ShMC on the switch board is a collection node; the ShMC on a main switch board is in point-to-point communication with the IPMC of a backup switch board or the IPMC of one gusset plate at the same time; and when the main switch board fails to work, the backup switch board takes over the work of the main switch board and completes the functions of the original main switch board.
