Problems solved by technology

[0006] Although the above power management mechanism can theoretically save more power, the virtual host VM will consume a large amount of network bandwidth during its transfer process, thus reducing the overall cloud computing performance
The load size of each virtual host VM will also change at any time due to factors such as the number of users and the type of application software, so it is difficult to estimate the timing of these changes
Therefore, if the node PM regularly implements power management mechanisms such as instant transfer of the virtual host VM, power off and restart of the node PM, etc., the efficiency of cloud computing will be greatly reduced

Abstract

Disclosed are a server system and a power management method thereof. The power management method of the server system comprises the following steps: a usage rate corresponding to at least one central processing unit (CPU) in a specific node is detected so as to calculate an average service rate of the specific node. A state of the specific node is judged according to the average service rate. When the state is lower than a normal load state, an operation parameter of the CPU is adjusted so as to reduce processing speed of the CPU, and when the state is higher than the normal load state, the operation parameter of the CPU is adjusted so as to improve the processing speed of the CPU, and therefore the state of the specific node can be in the normal load state. According to the power management method, operating efficiency and working period of the CPU are adjusted dynamically based on the usage rate of the CPU of the specific node so that power supply consumption is saved without affecting work efficiency of a virtual host machine.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a power management mechanism, in particular to a server system and a power management method thereof. Background technique [0002] Cloud computing (cloud computing) technology combines a large number of servers through the Internet to form ultra-high computing and super-large storage capabilities. Cloud computing technology can share or divide the software and hardware of these servers, and operate the web pages of these services through the network and browser, and use the above interface to perform various calculations and work. Due to the huge number of these servers, a server group composed of servers usually adopts a power management mechanism to reduce power consumption. [0003] figure 1 as shown, figure 1 is a schematic diagram of a server system 100 . There are a large number of physical machines (PMs) in the server system 100 , each node PM is a physical host in the server system 100 , and these nodes PMs are all...
