The invention discloses a high-performance water-swellable rubber which comprises the following components in parts by weight: 100-150 parts of rubber, 30-40 parts of water-absorbing resin, 5-7 parts of zinc oxide, 1-2 parts of stearic acid, 1.5-2.5 parts of anti-aging agent, 4-6 parts of aromatic oil, 3-5 parts of tackifying resin, 8-12 parts of spray carbon black, 25-35 parts of bentonite, 1.5-2.5 parts of organic peroxide, 0.8-1.5 parts of sulfur and 0.8-1.8 parts of accelerator. The water-swellable rubber has the advantages of stable performance, favorable compatibility between the water-absorbing resin and rubber, small expansion ratio change after repeated water absorption, favorable working properties and low production cost, and can satisfy the requirements for simple production technique and low production cost.
