The water-based coatings comprise a priming coating, an intermediate coating and a finishing coating, wherein the priming coating can be a special water-based epoxy zinc-rich priming coating or a water-based inorganic zinc-rich priming coating, the intermediate coating can be a water-based epoxy micaceous iron oxide intermediate coating or a water-based acrylic polyurethane intermediate coating, and the finishing coating can be a water-based acrylic polyurethane finishing coating or a water-based fluorocarbon finishing coating. The invention provides application of a water-based zinc-rich priming coating, a water-based epoxy intermediate coating and a water-based finishing coating to railway supports. The whole set of selected coatings meet all environmental protection requirements specified in the new environment protection law, the comprehensive properties of the whole set of selected coatings are optimized compared with those of the existing traditional oil-based coatings used for the railway supports, and the application cost of the whole set of selected coatings is reduced greatly.
