[0082] Example 1: Preparation of an aqueous alkyl glucamide composition according to the present invention

[0083] As described in WO92 / 06073, the commercially available C 8 / C 10 - Methyl carboxylate (C 8 - a share of 55% by weight, C 10 - a fraction of 45% by weight) for the preparation of the alkyl glucamides by reaction with N-methylglucamine in propylene glycol. A mixture is produced except for 90% by weight of alkyl glucamides of formula (I) (wherein R = C 8 h 17 or C 10 h 21 , R2=CH 3 ) in addition to 10% by weight of propylene glycol from the reaction mixture. 60 g of this mixture were dissolved in 40 g of water. A stable aqueous solution of C8 / 10-N-methylglucamide with a content of 54% by weight in water / propylene glycol was thus obtained.

The mixture was tested to be dissolved in water similarly to Example 1, but no stable solution was obtained. The results are summarized in Table 1.

Abstract

The invention relates to an aqueous adjuvant composition containing: a) one or more alkyl glucamides of formula (I) wherein R1 is a linear or branched alkyl group with five to nine carbon atoms and R2 is an alkyl group with one to three carbon atoms; b) water; c) optionally a co-solvent. The invention further relates to the use of such compositions to increase the biological activity of pesticides, preferably of herbicides, and to produce an aqueous pesticide composition.
