The present invention provides a herbicide containing a coptis extract and application thereof in peanut planting in saline-alkali soil. The herbicide comprises the following raw material components: 0.5-3.5 parts of pendimethalin, 4.2-8.6 parts of a coptis extract, 3-4.6 parts of myrcene, 3.5-6.5 parts of lignosulfonate, 14-20 parts of an emulsifier and 24-40 parts of a solvent. The emulsifier is a fatty alcohol polyethyleneglycol ether. The solvent comprises water, ethanol and toluene, wherein the weight ratio of water to ethanol to toluene is 3:5:2. The application of the herbicide in peanut planting in saline-alkali soil comprises steps of: firstly, diluting the herbicide by 200-250 times; and then, spraying the diluted herbicide of 90 ml per hectacre. By using the herbicide provided by the invention, the control effects of petunia, bermudagrass, cyperus rotundus and sonchus oleraceus are 99.6-100%, 99.1-99.4%, 99.4-99.6% and 97.5-98.5%, respectively.
