According to the method, after a video file to be processed is read, a video image is firstly zoomed, color images in a video are converted into grayscale images, then an object motion foreground is obtained by use of a frame difference method, next, a motion object rectangular box is obtained, then head detection is carried out, face detection is performed in a head area, next, skin color segmentation is performed on the same area of an original image, and finally a masked man judgment is made. A user selects a source video and carries out masked man detection on the video by use of the method provided by the invention so that the problem is solved that video monitoring cannot actively detect illegal activities of a masked man. Since the method does not have specific requirements for a video scene, worries about replacement of a different masked man detection technology due to different scenes are unnecessary.
