Abstract

The invention relates to applications of a compound in preparation of medicines protecting blood vessel endothelia and anti-oxidative medicines, and belongs to the natural medicine field. The invention provides a compound protecting endothelial cells from oxidative damage caused by ox-LDL. The compound is 15,16-dihydrotanshinone I which is extracted from salvia miltiorrhiza. 15,16-dihydrotanshinone I can improve decrease of the cell survival rate of EA.hy926 and SOD enzyme activity in cells caused by ox-LDL stimulation, and can activate ARE elements in the Nrf2 downstream. The function of protecting endothelial cells may be achieved through inducible expression of a plurality of antioxidant enzymes after activation of Nrf2-ARE passage. A new mean is provided for 15,16-dihydrotanshinone I in treating cardiovascular diseases.
