[0170] Material

[0171] Polyethyleneimine (PEI) solution (M w 750,000), 1-vinylimidazole (1VA) (≥99%), indomethacin (≥99%), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) (M w 89,000-98,000, 99+% hydrolyzed), acrylic acid (AA) (anhydrous, 99%), N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide (≥99.5%) and potassium persulfate (≥99.0%) are all from (St.Louis, USA) purchase. All other ingredients were of analytical grade and used as received.

[0172] Preparation of polymeric hydrogel pharmaceutical dosage forms

[0173] In order to manufacture the polymeric hydrogel pharmaceutical dosage form according to the invention, the following manufacturing method is used. A 6% polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-1M sodium hydroxide solution was prepared, to which a polyethyleneimine (PEI) solution and 1-vinylimidazole (1VA) were added to form a mixture. Subsequently, the drug (100 mg - constant throughout all formulations and all instances of drug) was dissolved into the mixture. Acrylic...

Abstract

The rotating machine comprises a shaft (14), a casing (12), at least one main magnetic bearing connected to the shaft for rotatably supporting said shaft inside the casing, at least one first and one second auxiliary rolling bearings (20, 22) positioned between the shaft and the casing to support axial and radial loads, and first and second axial abutment means (44, 54) positioned on the shaft to transmit axial loads to inner rings of the rolling bearings. The machine further comprises a spacer (28) axially positioned between facing faces of the inner rings (20a, 22a) of said rolling bearings for the transmission of the axial loads between said inner rings, and at least a first axial retaining means (58) positioned on the casing and located axially between facing faces of the outer rings (20b, 22b) for the transmission of the axial loads between at least one of said outer rings and the casing.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to pharmaceutical dosage forms containing a drug and capable of releasing the drug via activation of a stimulus from an external device. In particular, the present invention relates to polymeric hydrogel pharmaceutical dosage forms capable of releasing a drug when an electric current is applied to the hydrogel. Background technique [0002] Numerous studies have been directed towards pharmaceutical dosage forms, both oral and intravenous. A major disadvantage of oral dosage forms is the hepatic first pass metabolism and also gastrointestinal degradation of the drug to be delivered through the dosage form. A major disadvantage of intravenous dosage forms is the pain and fear associated with the needles necessary for intravenous administration of drug-containing dosage forms. [0003] Therefore, there is a need to develop alternative parenteral dosage forms that exhibit a high degree of patient compliance and are effective...
