Problems solved by technology

However, the diaphragm or filter significantly reduces the suction available at the breast compared to the suction at the outlet of the pump motor
Additionally, the diaphragm or filter tends to deform differently with each suction cycle, resulting in variations in the suction obtained and difficulty in controlling suction levels
[0005] Another disadvantage of the known device is the level of noise emitted by the pump motor which reduces user comfort

Embodiment Construction

[0045] figure 1 and figure 2 An embodiment of a breast pump collection system 100 is shown at two different stages of a pumping sequence. The breast pump collection system 100 comprises a breast shield 101 to be placed on a user's breast and connected to a pump unit 102 via a conduit 103 . The breast shield 101 is configured to screw onto 104 a collection bottle (not shown). A one-way valve 105 is provided at or on the opening leading to the bottle, and the one-way valve 105 is a duckbill valve here. In this embodiment, the pump unit 102 is a bellows with a plurality of corrugations 200 . figure 1 The bellows are compressed. With bellow such as figure 2 is drawn as shown in , creating the suction used to draw milk from the breast.

[0046] image 3 An embodiment of a milk collection system is shown in , wherein the pump unit comprises a bellows 300 with a single corrugation.

Abstract

The invention relates to a breast pump kit comprising a breast pump collection system which is to be replaceable and detachable connected to an electrical driving unit during use. The breast pump collection system comprises a breast shield for placing on a breast of a user, a pump unit, and tubing connecting the breast shield to the pump unit. The pump unit comprises a compartment of a variable volume in fluid connection to the exterior only via the tubing. The pump unit is configured to be detachable combined to the driving unit such that a driving motion of the driving unit acts to alternatingly expand and contract the compartment of the pump unit. In this way the pump unit creates alternating suction and pressure in the breast shield and at the breast of the user when in use. The invention further relates to a breast pump collection system for use in such breast pump kit.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to breast pump collection systems. The invention also relates to a breast pump kit consisting of a breast pump collection system and a separate drive unit. Background technique [0002] Different types of breast pumps exist to assist in expressing milk from the breasts of nursing women. Breast pumps may be manual devices powered by movement of the hands or feet, or electric devices in which the breast shields are coupled via conduits to a pump motor powered by mains power or batteries. [0003] Most breast pumps allow pumped breast milk to be collected directly into a container that can be used for storage and feeding. The plastic tube and breast shield of the breast pump are often called the collection system. [0004] Different types of pump motors—such as piston pumps or rotary vane pumps—are used in breast pumps to create the suction. To prevent free passage of air and to prevent any contamination or spillage from ...
