The tissue sensing device further comprises at least one optical fiber, wherein a distal end of the optical fiber is located at the end of the device, the optical fiber being capable of transmitting and receiving light. The optical fiber can be connected to an optical console capable of sending and receiving light and of analyzing the received light. With this arrangement, the tissue type in front of the tissue sensing device can be determined and a tissue type dependent signal can be generated.
