Embodiment Construction

[0072] In the following detailed description, numerous specific details are set forth by way of example in order to provide a thorough understanding of the relevant teachings. It should be apparent, however, to one skilled in the art that the present teachings may be practiced without such details. In other instances, well-known methods, procedures, components and / or circuits have been described at a relatively high level and without detail in order to avoid unnecessarily obscuring aspects of the present teachings.

[0073] When X-ray photons are absorbed by the semiconductor layer of an X-ray detector with an array of pixels, multiple charge carriers (e.g., electrons and holes) are generated and can be swept under an electric field towards the circuit for measurement these charge carriers. Carriers drift along the direction of the electric field and diffuse in all directions. The envelope of the carrier trajectory may be substantially conical in shape. If the envelope lies...

Abstract

An apparatus suitable for detecting X-ray is disclosed. In one example, the apparatus comprises an X-ray absorption layer (110) comprising a first pixel and a second pixel, and a controller (338). Thecontroller (338) is configured for determining that carriers generated by a single X-ray photon are collected by the first pixel and the second pixel. The controller (338) is also configured for determining energy of the single X-ray photon based on a first voltage detected from the first pixel and a second voltage detected from the second pixel. The first voltage and the second voltage are caused by the single X-ray photon.

Description

【Technical field】 [0001] The present disclosure relates to X-ray detectors, and more particularly to X-ray detectors capable of managing charge sharing. 【Background technique】 [0002] An X-ray detector may be a device for measuring the flux, spatial distribution, spectral or other properties of X-rays. [0003] X-ray detectors are used in many applications. An important application is imaging. X-ray imaging is a radiographic technique that can be used to reveal the internal structure of inhomogeneous and opaque objects such as the human body. Another important application is elemental analysis. Elemental analysis is the process of analyzing a sample of some material for its elemental composition. [0004] Early X-ray detectors included photographic negatives and photographic film. The photographic negative can be a glass negative with an emulsion coating. [0005] In the 1980s, light-stimulated phosphor panels (PSP panels) appeared. The PSP panel may contain a fluore...
