Abstract

The invention provides application of aesculi semen or an extract thereof in preparation of sedative-hypnotic drugs. According to the application, the aesculi semen is a commonly-used drug recorded in2015-edition Chinese Pharmacopoeia, the pharmacological experiment results show that the aesculi semen alcohol extract can remarkably prolong the sleeping time of mice caused by a suprathreshold dosage of pentobarbital sodium, the sedative and hypnosis effect is remarkable, and a wide clinical application prospect is achieved.
