The invention discloses application of a codonopsis pilosula extract in preparation of an antioxidant active drug for scavenging DPPH free radicals. The codonopsis pilosula extract is one or more of a95% ethanol extract, a water extract subjected to alcohol extraction, crude polysaccharide, crude oligosaccharide and refined oligosaccharide. The application disclosed by the invention has beneficial effects as follows: the invention provides the application of the codonopsis pilosula extract in the preparation of the antioxidant active drug for scavenging the DPPH free radicals, showing that the 95% ethanol extract, the water extract subjected to alcohol extraction, the crude polysaccharide, the crude oligosaccharide and the refined oligosaccharide of the codonopsis pilosula all have anti-oxidization effects. Through the analysis of contents of system components and the comparison of the antioxidant activity of the components, a basis can be provided for discovery of pharmacodynamic substances of the antioxidant activity of the codonopsis pilosula.
