Problems solved by technology

ADHF recurrent hospitalization consumes a lot of existing medical resources and will continue to generate huge costs
[0013] Despite a better understanding of the pathophysiology of HF, modern medicine has still not developed new treatments for chronic HF or relapsing ADHF

Embodiment Construction

[0415] The present invention discloses medical devices, methods and systems for treating heart disease, heart dysfunction and heart failure, particularly HFpEF or measurable heart disease symptoms such as dyspnea, by increasing venous volume, reducing pulmonary congestion and increasing diuretic response mechanisms . The treatment method may also treat other related diseases with blood flow redistribution, such as hypertension, cardiorenal syndrome, portal hypertension, tricuspid regurgitation, or other symptoms related to the splanchnic thoracic nerve, such as intractable abdominal pain (such as cancer patients) or diuretic resistance. This method of treatment can be achieved by ablation of at least a portion of the target nerve, including the thoracic splanchnic nerve ( For example, ablation of the target nerves of the large splanchnic nerve, small splanchnic nerve, small splanchnic nerve, splanchnic nerve root, and splanchnic nerve) can block or stop signal communication o...

Abstract

Devices and methods for treating a heart failure patient by ablating a nerve of the thoracic splanchnic sympathetic nervous system to increase venous capacitance and reduce pulmonary blood pressure are provided. A method comprising: inserting a catheter into a vein adjacent the nerve, applying stimulation energy and observing hemodynamic effects, applying ablation energy and observing hemodynamiceffects, applying stimulation energy after the ablation and observing hemodynamic effects and monitoring for presence of the lung in the ablation zone. An alternative method comprising: inserting a catheter into a vein adjacent the nerve, detecting that lung tissue is a safe distance from an ablation zone, and delivering ablation energy to the target nerve when lung tissue is a safe distance fromthe ablation zone.

Description

[0001] Cross-linked related patents [0002] This patent has priority over the following U.S. provisional patents and contains the entire contents of each of these patents: 62 / 368,912 (filed July 29, 2016), 62 / 411,492 (filed October 21, 2016) and 62 / 482,142 (filed 5 April 2017). [0003] incorporation by reference [0004] All publications and patent applications related to the field of the present invention are collectively incorporated by reference as specific or independent incorporation herein. Background technique [0005] Heart failure (HF) is a medical condition when the heart cannot pump enough blood to maintain the body's organs. Heart failure is a serious condition that affects millions of people in the United States and around the world. [0006] In the U.S. alone, some 5.1 million people suffer from heart failure, and according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, more than $30 billion is spent on the care, treatment, drugs, and lost productivity required...
