Abstract

The invention discloses application of mPGES-2 as a drug target for developing or screening or preparing drugs for treating and/or preventing diabetes mellitus. The invention puts forward that the mPGES-2 is the drug target of the diabetes mellitus for the first time. Experiments show that by knocking out the mPGES-2, blood sugar of normal-diet mice and high-fat-diet mice is remarkably improved, pancreatic proliferation of the mice is remarkably promoted, meanwhile, differentiation of pancreatic beta cells is promoted, and generation of insulin by pancreas islets is promoted, so that glycometabolism of the mice is improved. By virtue of overexpression of the mPGES-2, generation of cAMP of the pancreas islets can be obviously inhibited, so that secretion of the insulin is inhibited. The experiments show that the mPGES-2 is capable of regulating and controlling the blood sugar, can be taken as the target for treating the diabetes mellitus and has important significances to medicinal development, prevention and treatment of the type of diseases.
