The invention discloses a device for composting household kitchen garbage by earthworms and a method thereof, and the device comprises a kitchen garbage throwing area which is used for throwing household kitchen garbage; a rinsing and crushing area used for deoiling and desalting the kitchen garbage and crushing the kitchen garbage into particles; an aerobic composting area used for performing aerobic degradation on the crushed kitchen garbage; an earthworm composting area used for taking in kitchen garbage through earthworms and converting the kitchen garbage into organic fertilizer; and a control panel area respectively connected with the kitchen garbage throwing area, the rinsing and crushing area, the aerobic composting area and the earthworm composting area.
