Abstract

An embodiment of the present invention relates to a secondary battery comprising: an electrode assembly having an anode tab formed at one end thereof and a cathode tab formed at the other end thereof; a case in which the electrode assembly is received and which is open at both opposite ends thereof; and a pair of cover assemblies coupled to respective open ends of the housing. According to the present invention, the cap assembly is formed on opposite sides of the case, so that a cathode terminal and an anode terminal of the cap assembly can have the same direction as a cathode tab and an anode tab of the electrode assembly, which makes it possible to simplify the shape of a current collector and minimize the length of the current collector.
