Abstract

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for detecting an optical signal channel information using a polarization modulation are provided for accurately detecting a channel information on a transmission line and enhancing a data reliability when detecting a channel information of an optical communication network of a single or multiple channel wavelength division method. CONSTITUTION: A polarization modulation optical transmitter(1000 polarizes and modulates a data which will be transmitted based on each channel and multiplexes the same and transmits to an opponent optical transmission system(600). A tap coupler(200) extracts a signal in a range in which a signal transfer is not affected among the optical signals outputted from the polarization modulation optical transmitter(100). A polarization light detector(300) receives an optical signal outputted from the tap coupler(200) and detects a polarized signal.
