[0068] 500 g of flowers of Calendula (Calendula oficinalis) were placed in a washing tank and thoroughly washed with water at about 28°C. The flowers are then crushed with a grinder. 500 g of the resulting pulverized material were treated with a red linear laser diode with a power of 20 watts and a spot diameter of 4 mm, capable of generating harmonics at a wavelength of 250 nm. Treatment is accomplished by manually passing a laser generator through the pulverized material for 2.5 minutes so that all or most of the mixture is irradiated. The laser-treated material was then suspended in 2 liters of water at about 20°C, and this suspension was kept at 4°C for 12 days. Finally, the liquid phase was separated from the solid phase: first the liquid was decanted (squeezing the solid material to facilitate separation), followed by three consecutive pressure filtrations at about 20°C with 5 μm, 1 μm and 0.22 μm filters. The whole process yielded about 1.7 liters of ocher solution (a...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a polysaccharide compounds of formula which present immune stimulating activity, a process for their preparation, their use in immune-suppressant diseases and pharmaceutical compositions containing them. Formula, wherein n=7 to 8.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to a polysaccharide compound of formula I exhibiting immunostimulatory activity, a method for obtaining it, its use in the treatment of immunosuppressive diseases and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound. Background of the invention [0002] The immune system can be defined as the collection of molecules, cells, and organs whose complex interactions form an emergency system that normally protects an individual from external aggressors as well as their own mutating cells. [0003] The immune system can be divided into two functionally distinct components: an innate element and an acquired element. Innate immunity refers to non-specific and non-adaptive immune elements that can distinguish foreign tissues / organisms but cannot recognize specific invaders, which can be optimally divided into barrier (skin and mucous membranes), non-specific chemical substances (present enzymes in mucosal secretions, quinine...
