[0102]A rubber composition (1) was obtained by kneading 100 parts by weight of a high-cis polybutadiene (“BR-730”, trade name, available from JSR Corporation), 20 parts by weight of zinc diacrylate, 5 parts by weight of zinc oxide, an adequate amount of barium sulfate, 0.5 part by weight of diphenyl disulfide and 0.7 part by weight of dicumyl peroxide. A golf ball 2 has a spherical core 4, a mid layer 6 situated on the external side of the core 4, and a cover 8 situated on the external side of the mid layer 6. The core 4 has a spherical center 10 and an envelope layer 12 situated on the external side of the center 10.
