It was developed with the aim of providing an open, XML-based file format specification for office applications.

Enhanced E-Mail System

An enchanced email system integrates office applications to track information related to the office application documents and emails within the email system, so as to monitor the work status and productivity of office work and to improve efficiency. The enhanced email system enables the creation of automatic folders amongst a group of people (e.g., team members) to manage emails, forms, and office application documents related to specific projects or assignments, thus making it easier to manage and locate emails and office application documents within the email system. The enhanced email system also allows only the latest email and office application documents generated from “reply” or “forward” to remain in the “inbox” and the related “automatic folder”, the prior version emails and office application documents are either moved to a separate folder or deleted from the individual's email account, and therefore, maintains a neat and easy navigable mailbox.

Importing and exporting markup language data in a spreadsheet application document

Methods and systems are provided for importing and exporting markup language formatted data into a spreadsheet document. XML data is associated with a schema file defining data types and data type definitions for applying the XML data to the document. A map is prepared that relates any XML data applied to the document back to corresponding elements or attributes defined in the schema file. When the document is imported into a spreadsheet application grid, the map is parsed to find XPATHs which determine the location, data types and user data for each cell or list object in the document related to the schema file. The cells and lists are populated with the XML data and user data and rendered according to formatting dictated by the XML data applied to the document. The document may be exported such that the XML data is maintained for subsequent import and use.

Markup language visual mapping

Methods and systems are provided for mapping markup language data and schema, such as eXtensible Markup Language (XML) data and XML schema, to selected fields (cells, columns, rows) of a spreadsheet application document. An XML schema file is associated with a spreadsheet application document by providing a mechanism of adding the schema definitions to the spreadsheet application document. Furthermore, XML schema constructs such as elements, attributes, and simple content are associated to regions in the spreadsheet application document by providing a tree view structure of a generalized instance of a given XML schema file. A user may drag and drop markup language nodes representing elements, attributes and simple data content, from the tree view structure of the generalized instance of the XML schema file onto a spreadsheet worksheet grid. Once a cell, column or row in worksheet grid accepts the dropped element or attribute, an association is made between the target location in the worksheet grid, and the definition, data type and rules associated with the dropped element or attribute by setting an XML path language (XPATH) marker to point the target location back to the selected element or attribute in the XML schema file. Having all or partially all desired markup language elements or attributes associated with desired target locations in the spreadsheet grid, a general mapping of marked-up locations in the spreadsheet grid and their associated elements and / or attributes in an associated XML schema file is created.

Data store for software application documents

A data store is provided for storing, relating and for allowing use of data associated with a computer-generated document. Data for structuring information associated with a document, such as document metadata, is maintained in the data store where relationships between different pieces of data are maintained in a location distinct from the surface level view of a document. The data store exposes interfaces to the various pieces of data in the data store for allowing different applications to access and operate on one or more of the data pieces. The pieces of data may be structured according to a markup language such as the Extensible Markup Language (XML), and XML schemas may be associated with each piece of data for allowing the data store to validate the structure applied to the data based on an XML schema associated with a given piece of data.

System and method for electronic document distribution

A system and method for distributing information. The inventive system is a client-server architecture with software agents running on both the client and server systems. The invention saves time, incorporates email distribution in any application that is print capable, and allows electronic document delivery in multiple formats in addition to the native application document format. The system uses an application's print mechanism running on a client for electronic distribution of documents via email. In the illustrative embodiment, the client agent receives user interfaces from the server that allows document routing by presenting available services (such as print, email, fax, publish, etc.). The user first selects "print" from their application, such as a word processor application. The file is then intercepted by a port monitor that is launched by the printing sub-system of the network operating system. The port monitor launches an agent that transfers the file and retrieves a user interface from the server that presents the user with a list of document service selections. One of these selections is "Electronically Distribute Document." When the user chooses this selection, the user is provided with a user interface to input destination email addresses. After the user fills out the proper destination information and selects "send", the client agent transmits the destination information to the server agent. The server agent then attaches the printed file, which can be in different formats from the original format, postscript format (.PS), or portable document format (.PDF) depending on the user options, and emails it to the email destinations specified by the user in the destination field.

Document exploit detection using baseline comparison

An application document known to include malware (such as a document exploit) is opened and executed by its corresponding software application. Behaviors of this document (such as registry, file system, network and process) are monitored and recorded using internal software drivers and hook modules. A behavior report is generated and a baseline pattern is created including a number of regular expressions. A suspicious document of the same type as the monitored document is opened and executed by the same corresponding software application. Behaviors are monitored in the same way and a behavior report is generated. This behavior report is compared to the baseline pattern and a determination is made as to whether a document exploit is present. Known benign documents may also be opened, monitored and their behavior recorded, resulting in creation of a known benign pattern for the corresponding software application.

The application document can be a new application seeking a contractural right or an existing one for which a contractual right has already been granted yet which is being verified herein. The contractual right can define a compensatory relationship between two entities for specified conditions. At least one address can be determined from the application document, where activities related to the contractual right are to be performed. The address can be converted into geospatial coordinates. A database of geospatially recorded items can be queried for activities proximate to the geospatial coordinates. A geospatial inconsistency score can be generated based on the results from the database and their level of incompatibility with conducting the activity for which the contractual right is related.

Method and procedure for compiling and caching VoiceXML documents in a Voice XML interpreter

A method and system of compiling and caching voice application documents in order to provide more efficient retrieval of resources in a web-programming model such as in the VoiceXML domain. The method and system of the present invention requires that a voice application resource such as a VoiceXML document first be transformed into a representative object model before it is stored in the system's cache memory, and that this model becomes the voice application resource that is ultimately executed by the VoiceXML interpreter. The representative object model contains all of the data of the original source document but in a compressed and optimized format therefore occupying a smaller footprint in memory. The representative object model also contains the code necessary to execute the data. Further, the compressed representative object model does not need to be compiled again before execution. Because the object model stored in cache contains a compiled representation of the original resource and not the original resource itself, it can be executed as a binary object, thus leading to greater efficiency during execution and the reduction of cost and hardware utilization.

System and method for providing an improved data schema via roles and uses

A system and method for providing an improved data schema for representing financial transactions using data relationships based on financial transaction information is provided. Instead of relying on financial transaction documents for financial transaction information, the underlying data and their relationships are used to represent the financial transaction information. For example, each entity involved in a financial transaction may be represented separately. Furthermore, each entity may be associated with a role played by the entity in the financial transaction and entity type that describes the type of entity. Relationships in which the entity may be involved may depend upon this and other information. In this manner, for example, financial transaction information from a loan application document may be used with financial transaction information from a deposit account document in order to generate another financial transaction document even though the loan application document uses different terminology than the deposit account document.

Image processing method, image processing apparatus, image forming apparatus, and storage medium

In the image processing apparatus of the present invention, when a document is read, a document matching process section determines whether the document is similar to a reference document or not. When the document is similar to the reference document, the document matching process section further determines whether the document has been zoomed (size of the document has been changed). When the document has been zoomed, an editing process section restores the size of the document to the size of the reference document. This provides an image processing apparatus capable of restoring the changed size of a document in a predetermined format such as a form document and an application document to its original size.
